(52) 1-22, Dec, 2018 Peer-reviewedThis paper is a report on the first-time practice of p4c (Philosophy for Children) at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Fukui College, conducted on July 19, 2018. Our target group were the second-year students of the Department of Civil Engineering, where NAKAGAWA acted as the p4c's facilitator. SATO introduced to his class a philosophical dialogue as a homeroom activity. After the dialogue, SATO and NAKAGAWA collected the worksheets filled by the students. The aim of this paper is to grasp the uniqueness of the p4c method through the observation of dialogues and the analysis of worksheets, as a preparation for the incorporation of p4c into Engineering Ethics. The first-time practice of p4c at NIT, Fukui College builds a "intellectual safety" in the class. The analysis of the worksheets shows that the students reacted positively to the philosophical dialogue.
