The purpose of this research is to examine and describe the relationship of essence to phenomena on American Home Economics Research. In this report, we analyze 739 papers which divided into "Philosophy of Home Economics" area in the previous report by classifying them in terms of chronological order and 6 items of this area, and then, analyze using the keyword from the titles of these papers. The results are shown below : 1) By the analysis based on the proportion of 6 items, the period from 1910's to 1980's can be devided into three. The first period is 1910's to 1930's, the second is 1940's to 1950's and the third is 1960's to 1980's. 2) By the analysis based on the keywords, the characteristics of American Home Economics can be expressed as follows : (1) Family and home used as the center of basic ideas. (2) Philosophy and methodology have been constantly concerned. (3) By services such as education to turn out many Home Economists and by direct participation in the policy and legislation, American Home Economics Association has contributed to the public. (4) Future of the Home Economics has been reflected based on historical study of basic ideas and researches, and on their estimation.

This study purports to investigate the characteristics and the trends of studies on American Home Economics by analyzing two journals, i.e., Journal of Home Economics and Home Economics Research Journal. Papers used for this study were selected by analyzing the items appearing in their contents. The results are as follows : <BR>(1) Items composing the contents of the two journals were very diverse. They were broadly classified into three categories : (1) Research and Articles, (2) AHEA Today, and (3) Departments.<BR>(2) Of the 5, 765 papers selected, they were based on the topic Research and Articles, and consisted of pure research papers and their equivalents for analysis.

In the previous report, we selected appropriate papers for this study. In this report, we try to analyze those papers by classifying them in terms of chronological order and subject-matter areas.<BR>The results are shown below : <BR>(1) The number of papers from 1920's to 1930's is very small, while papers from 1940's to 1970's are relatively numerous.<BR>(2) The number of papers on Philosophy of Home Economics and Home Management hasn't changed much in the whole period. The number of papers on Food-Nutrition and Home Economics Education is decreasing. There is an increase in the number of papers on other subjectmatter areas.<BR>(3) By the analyses based on the proportion of 10 subject-matter areas, the period from 1910's to 1980's can be divided into three. The first period is from 1910's to 1930's. The feature of this period is attaching importance to Food-Nutrition and Home Economics Education. The second period is 1940's in which we see some traits of a transitional stage. The third period is from 1950's to 1980's. The feature of this period is that the difference in percentage of 10 subjectmatter areas is small.
