V, Curricula and methods of education and allied subjects, 55(1) 125-135, 2006 Lead authorCorresponding authorIn this thesis, we examine the validity of adoption of discussion and debate by students in classes of teacher-training course, especially the classes of "Principle of Education", "Educational Administration", "Moral Education", and "Ethics", by using questionnaires and impressions written by students who attended the classes. And we investigate in what meaning we need to reconsider our opinions and take an objective view by discussing and debating with others. Consequently, we confirm that students enriched meaningful understandings of the self, and progressed in capacities for good human relations, and they are motivated for learning, by the discussion and debate. In addition, we place a special emphasis on the ability to reason and generalize in discussion and debate by students.
